Snowy Day and A Striking Guest

We somewhat unexpectedly had 15 inches of snow today in NYC (I thought it was only going to be about 6). You can see it on the construction rafters behind XingXing and FuFu's shadows on this pic. They apparently were quite unfazed by the inclement weather. This is the first pic so far in AMACA2C that I didn't take - JoJo took it today with the "small camera". She took a bunch with flash as well because they were being cute and affectionate on top of their tower (actually licking each other instead of wrestling for a change!), but I actually like this silhouette one the best.

At KittyKind tonight I took a photo of Magnolia - what a striking and unusual cat! Also quite curious with a spunky personality. Adoptable for a limited time only in New York City!

Melancholy Kitty

This quite possibly is my favorite photo of XingXing, as I think it catpures his essence quite well. He is definitely more serious and regal than his brother, but there is also some intense pensive and melancholic aspect to his aura, especially compared to the goofy curiousity of FuFu.

The Incredible Levitating XingXing

This past weekend, XingXing levitated......

From the Kitten Archives

Besides posting "real time" photos of XingXing and FuFu here at AMACA2C I'm also going to regularly post photos from their kittenhood. For the first installment from the archive here is one of my favorites (I didn't place them in that position, I just walked into the room and took a pic!) and also the very first photo of XingXing and FuFu (at least since they were known as XXFF). After we brought them home we put them in the bathroom for 15 minutes while we googled "how to take care of a kitten". During those 15 minutes they committed their first act of destruction, tearing all of the toilet paper off of the roll. They were 10 weeks old and weigh about 1.5 pounds each!

Studio Lights Make XingXing and FuFu Look Like Roman Statues

You know how Roman statues have blank pupils? Well, I have been playing around with a cheap set of studio lights that I bought.  In general, I like the effect, except for how tiny it shrinks down my cats' pupils, making them resemble ancient pupil-less statues!

Camera has got FuFu's Tongue

FuFu seems to like to stick his tongue out, espeically when he's doing something. In the first 2 pics its out just a bit, but then in the third he really lets it fly as he is swatting something.

Sleepy Cat Coping Mechanisms

Sometimes (actually, most of the time) a cat just wants to sleep.  But that can be rather difficult if some guy is always hovering over you trying to take photos.   Well, XingXing has come up with several different strategies to deal with this everyday annoyance:

1. The Stare.  What you looking at?
Can I Help You?

2. Close your eyes and ignore until the annoying photographer guy goes away
If I close my eyes, maybe this guy with the camera will go away

3. Hide in the deepest darkest corner of the closet!
Why choose this narrow little perch over a bed?

(Adoptable) Guest Cats for the New Year

Happy New Year everyone! I think this will be the best year to date in the illustrious history of the AMACA2C blog. I hadn't planned on introducing guest cats this early (3rd post) since this blog will be primarily focused on XingXing and FuFu, but I took a couple of pics of beautiful adoptable cats at Kitty Kind on New Years Eve that I feel compelled to share with the greater AMACA2C community immediately since these kitties are available to be adopted if you are in the greater New York City area.  Kitty Kind is a non-kill 100% volunteer cat rescue organization in NYC that operates out of Petco in Union Square - I am a volunteer photographer there.  KittyKind (KK) has a dear place in my heart because XingXing and FuFu are KK alumni (class of October 2009).  Eventually I'll get a link up to KK on this page.  Anyway, without further ado, here are two long-haired beauties, Sephora & Godiva.
